Julian Casablancas + The Voidz have shared a retrofuturistic new song, “Blue Demon.” Stream it below.
The track arrived on Sunday after being teased with a pair of surreal Instagram posts using AI-generated video. In the first, former social media manager Tron Cole purportedly threatened to leak new music, prompting The Voidz to preemptively put out the song.

Featuring a heavy dose of synths and Casablancas’ vocals drenched in Auto-Tune, the song’s lyrics could be referencing the conflict between Israel and Palestine: “We fight each other like two brothers/ Father forgive me, intifada/ Too many babies dead like their mothers.”
“Blue Demon” is Julian Casablancas + The Voidz’s first new music since dropping their most recent album Like All Before You (get your copy here) last fall. Following its release, they appeared on The Tonight Show to perform “Square Wave” and “7 Horses.”
Outside of music, Casablancas critiqued the two-party political system in the US ahead of the 2024 presidential election, saying each candidate was “both sides of the same corporate coin.”
Up next, The Voidz have a show at London’s The Troxy and an August appearance at Italy’s Ypsigrock Festival. Get tickets here.
